I would like to tell you a little bit about myself! My name is Kayla Springer, I grew up in Calera and I am proud to say that I have been a Bulldog gal my whole life! My mother (Linda Burkhalter) taught at Calera for almost 30 years, and it has been a dream of mine to follow in her footsteps! She is my idol!! Well my dream has come true, I am finally here, and I absolutely love it!
I live in Durant, with my husband Shawn and our 3 children Jacy who is 11, Jaden who is 10, and Kanon who is 9. They are my whole world, and the true loves of my life! I love spending time with my family, going to yard sales, camping, hunting, fishing, riding our motorcycle, 4 wheeling, scuba diving, boating, anything outdoors! We have lots of critters a Chihuahua named Elvis, 4 cats, one goat, goldfish, and a huge 250 gallon saltwater tank!
I recieved my Bachelors degree from S.O.S.U. in 2005, with a major in Elementary Education, and an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. My first year teaching was at Durant Intermediate School as a part-time certified art teacher, and a part-time special education assistant in 2005. I taught first grade at Kingston Elementary school from 2006-2010. This is my third year teaching at Calera, and teaching Kindergarten!
I have a wonderful group of students, and I am looking forward to another great year!
